Freaked

Oh, it was so hard to get out of bed this morning. Lucky I have a flex/time schedule or I would be in deep do-do. Still haven't woken(the old woken bucket, that old woken bucket..) up fully yet. Not much happening at the office, same old same old. Caught flack from RTC about the state of my office. I am getting tired of wading through papers on the floor too, but just don't clean it up. Must be something in my character-Goofy!

Having eye muscle surgery in a little over a week. Excited about it. Doc Rhettna says I have to wear a red eye shade for a week after the procedure. Keeps the harmful rays out of my eyes. Hate to part with the GES, but it's only a week. My eyes have been fluttering downward to the beat of music by the "Strawberry Alarm Clock" for a couple of years now. Makes reading a real joy-not.

Have to play IT person today. Move photos from one computer to another. Easy they say-right. That's what they told me when I helped with the digital camera. In any case, I have blocked off the rest of the day for geek work. Also will try to hook up one of the office computers to our network. Have an idea how it might work, we'll see. I'll let you know how it all comes out in tomorrow's edition.

Circulation is up so RTC is very happy. Had to hire additional carriers! They are doing well on their jobs too. OK, guess it is time to start the office clean up and IT work. See y'all later. Don't you just love the sound of lawn mowers and those things they use to blow the grass?

Musings

Back in the office. Have been wondering and thinking about public transportation. I mean in some cities it's great but where I live it is very spotty. No, it is not run by Dalmatians.

Several years ago I use to ride the bus everyday. It was wonderful. Now that I live in the country, it has become more difficult. I live just a couple of miles from a major US highway but nothing comes down this way. I have to drive three miles north, to a shopping center to connect with the bus.

There are several subdivisions and mansions out here and I cannot believe I am the only one who is pondering this question. Think of all the cars driving to work each morning. It is staggering!! I'm not sure what the answer is. Well, if I drive, I can catch a bus. Could start to lobby our local politicians, if I could find one. Perhaps, in another lifetime.

On the other hand, it is very difficult becoming a geek. I have over the past month or so become very interested in my computer and all the high tech world out there. I am tired of just clicking on icons.

I found out what RSS feeds are. Thought it was something you fed to hogs. I guess the only way for me to become more geekish is try different things, read, and just explore on my own. Oh yes, asking questions is good too.

Not much going on at MMG today. RTC is at an editors convention in a town named Hell. Good place for him to go to. Just kidding, love the guy. That's about awl for now.

Oh yes, there was NO ICE, ergo no fishing. Not sure where the shack is now. May have gone over the falls. Local authorities have been issued a BOLO.

Saturday

Going ice fishing with the missus today. Have to unwind from the frenzy of yesterday. Wasn't Frenzy the name of an Alfred Hitchcock movie? If not, it should have been. Have to look it up in my Funk & Wagnols.

See you Monday. Gears in the car, time to go. Bye

Note: My editor, RTC, called me back to the office to correct post. Just hooked a big one at our ice fishing shack. Taken off my green eyeshade and headed back to fishing and the missus. Have a good weekend.

Next week: Thoughts on public transportation!

Slow Gnus Day

Arrived at the office late today. No energy. Still had to wade through the papers on my floor. Going to have to wait for another day. Went to Chinese restaurant for lunch. Was joined by FTD and DTD, they ate it up. I'm still hungry. Hasn't even been a hour. Time for Scoops!!

See you tomorrow, I hope.

Sunny Michigan Morning

Wow, what a beautiful morning. My spirits are soaring! Looking forward to getting tons of work done today! If you have two typists working in the same office; Do you have stereotyping? More later.

It is now much later. That sunny morning turned stormy this afternoon. First I had a meeting with my editor,RTC, in his corner office of our penthouse suite in the MMG building. The first words out of his mouth, "Clean Up your Desk, Clean up the Floor."

This was an unusual order since I am the star reporter, but you know editors. They can be very strange at times. I use to work with Physicists, do they clean up their desks/floors? Ah, NO. Anyway I started in sorting when I was interrupted by our staff photographer. Needed some advice on downloading a digital camera to his computer.

Being the only IT guy on our staff I helped out. Seems he has a computer manufactured by a fruit company. This brings in extra cash flow after the harvest season. Easy task for me, the office geek. Plugged in the cable waited...waited....WAITED and nothing happened.

After many fruitless(pardon the pun) I decided to consult the camera manual. So I went to our vast library and searched for it, no luck. I found manuals on coffee makers, electric knives, and a crock pot but none on cameras. Pshaw, he said with a frown.

As a last resort, I consulted the website for the camera. Well, it seems that if you have the Fruit company's computer, there is a setting that must be turned on. Why? It is set up for a computer that is manufactured by glass setters. That's the gold standard, right? WRONG. To wrap this up I saved the day by changing the setting. Now everyone is happy, the editor, the photographer but my desk is still a mess and I sloshed across the floor to go home.

Maybe Tomorrow?

A New Beginning

I am not sure what this blog will be like. As the title suggests this a new project for me. What I plan to do with my first post is to throw out a few thoughts. Time out. It's my turn to make the salad for dinner! Back in awhile! I am back, have a full belly and am tired. Done for the day, see you next time.
